    With Microsoft having recently released the Windows 10 Anniversary update I've been running some fresh Windows vs. Linux performance comparisons. The first of these comparisons for your viewing pleasure is looking at the latest Windows 10 build with the latest Intel driver compared to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS while also comparing the performance when manually upgrading to the Linux 4.7 kernel and Mesa 12.1-dev for delivering the latest OpenGL performance potential.

    Is there any official Intel driver, even if proprietary software ?

      The difference is just too big, but now than they will reach opengl 4.5 I hope than they will invest their resources on optimization

        You need to have support first, then go for optimization. Hopefully now that OGL 4 is actually supported, the developers can focus on improving the performance.
        Working on Vulkan is obviously important too.

          It seems there is much potential that is not used right now. You can certainly get some more games running if you lower settings and Source engine based ones usallly work too but I would mainly use Intel systems for Internet, office and multimedia. Kaby Lake will be interesting for HEVC Main 10. Gamers usually buy dedicated cards anyway.

            The results of the AAA game tests aren't surprising. Feral ports are slower with all GPUs and drivers on Linux. It probably has some to do with the wrapper library code with their IndirectX and other libraries. At least we are seeing a performance improving happening.

              What's with the vastly different screen resolutions in the games? 1280x1024 for unigine, but then 4k for xonotic?

                windows is still superior to linux operating systems on gaming. Games tested are linux native?

                  Not true, this is with the Mesa and Intel (integrated gpu) drivers. But it is a shame intel aren't putting their back more into it.

                    1280x1024 is more than taxing for Unigine on Intel hardware where as at 4K is needed to stress the card well for like Xonotic.
