Phoronix: Intel Might Actually Be Done With OpenGL 4.4 In Mesa

It was just last week that Intel crossed OpenGL 4.2 in Mesa and earlier today the needed Intel OpenGL 4.3 patches landed while tonight there are patches pending for the OpenGL 4.4 changes for Intel's open-source Linux graphics driver...

Looks that Nouveau will be finished at the same time. Are there patches for those last two radeonsi ones?

They still need to enable compute shaders in OpenGL as well (for gen8+ they are only on for GLES which has lesser requirements).

Francisco Jerez has posted 2 out of 3 series of patches to get that working, so it looks like that should make it soon as well.

Changes in the morning, then some more in the evening. That way even daily cron job to compile new mesa is not enough

I'd be happy if they can implement a really nice Open GL 4.x based driver and then concentrate on Vulkan and cleaning up driver overall.

Actually, they are done with 4.5 as well: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.v...d.devel/136612

As some OpenGL 4.3+ games never had benchmarks for Intel it will be very interesting to see Skylake and Broadwell-C with those. I did not get why some simpler games like Bioshock Infinite and DiRT Showdown never had results as only an OpenGL(SL) override was needed.

Yup, last bit of last 4.5 extension looks like it's about to be merged.

This means mesa will stay at version 12.x forever…

Is the Unreal Engine problem resolved yet so OpenGL 4.3 can be turned on?
I'm curious about what the new intel restructuring and wonder why Intel wanted OpenGL4.5 so bad in the next mesa release, it has to be something more then just adding that support since it's a rush.
