This raises a question: do Android smartphones based on Intel chips really use gcc everywhere or is icc used in some places?

It seems today is my day to be a proofreader.

It's in the Phoronix article, not the Intel websites

Intel long time ago realized that Google support ARM (only). So if they want to sell their chips to Android OEM's they must add support for x86 themselfs.

Work is going on for a while. Its true, it work (and you can even buy some Android phones powered by x86 made by Intel).
