You don't own a full hd tft? 100fps at 320x240 would be funny however

I currently get ~60 fps fullhd(regardless of quality settings) on openarena using 4770, where I got ~160 fps via proprietary (and buggy) fglrx from almost triple weaker 4670. So, current opensource driver is delivering only 1/5 of possible performance and only a subset of hw features. The devs are heroic though, the company not so. But it could be way worser (as in nvidia).

1) The performance per watt is bad. ok, 220 fps from 300 possible would be ok; but not 1/5 of actual performance.
2) 60 fps is not enough for fps shooter, 85 and up.
3) The framerate quickly goes down if more than one player appears close on the screen.
I have once used 9800gt green with proprietary running one "space" kind map in QA, 16 ai players, rocket match(lots of explosions), fullhd, maxed out and spectating from the side - 120 fps.
Very comparable in performance 4770 runs same at 5 fps best.

ok yes 85fps brings more heatshots but you got ugly graphic by tearing.

I tested the beta ones a while back like Dec 10th.

You mainly need libdrm 2.4.23:
Try something like the Amnesia - The Dark Descent demo:
