Sometimes compiz can even help, what you also could try is using vlc, because there it is using xv and decoding via vaapi. Needs a bit more cpu time, but works.

        similar problem

        Hello everyone!

I endevaour to play hd films with vaapi on my computer, which has a Intel Pentium G6950 @ 2.80GHz processor. I use mplayer-vaapi.

Normal hd films are played very well. CPU usage is very low. But HD films seems to be slow, and audio has a bit delay. However usage of the cpu is also low.

Do you have any idea to speed up my system?

          Did you try vlc yet?

run script as root first then as user.

I have installed vlc with your attached file. It seems, it can play the video, the CPU usage is about 30%. But it stutterts in everey second. Any idea?
