Phoronix: Windows 11 vs. Ubuntu 24.10 Performance For Intel Core Ultra 7 Lunar Lake

Following my recent Intel Core Ultra 7 200V "Lunar Lake" Linux benchmarks and looking at the Xe2 Lunar Lake graphics (including Windows 11 vs. Linux already), you may be wondering about the Lunar Lake CPU performance between Windows and Linux... Here are some benchmarks of the ASUS Zenbook S 14 with Core Ultra 7 256V under Windows 11 and Ubuntu 24.10 Linux.

As usual powersave governor in Ubuntu, but still beats the crap out of windows.

I don't see the information if the Defender was turned off on Windows (that might be cause to some of the performance decrease). Also what about other CPU mitigation stuff? Was it equal between the 2 systems? Not "defending" Windows (or Linux for that matter), just thinking if the comparison was fair. Thanks.

Defender is a core system component of Windows, both are measured out of the box. Was it fair that Ubuntu was tested with its default to powersave governor when that surely decreased performance?

What about power usage? Windows shouldn't be that much slower using the same base configuration, right?

Michael compares an unmodified Ubuntu to an unmodified Win11 install, i.e. what the average user would use. Which is fair.

              Why should it not be?

It would be very interesting to have power consumption numbers, to see if the slowness of windows comes from it waiting to execute, or is it just doing so much more work to achieve same result.

Too bad only Ubuntu with Gnome was tested and too bad that the power consumption was not tested too!

Windows is bogged down by the AI "features", pop-ups, adware, advertisements, tracking scripts, and other crap being relentlessly shoved into the product by the mothership. Windows peaked at version 7, it's all been downhill since.
