Ok, I admit that nowadays on 64 bit, there is way more binary code to read and load into memory, but with fvwm2 the desktop won't use lots of resources!
It was ctwm with all bells-and-whistles enabled and 8-Virtual desktops

Would it not be great if all - especially AMD - matched Intel's efforts into bettering Linux.

Sure it would, but Nvidia is much worse on that subject and Intel's biggest stake in Linux support is still to improve their own, not always competitive, hardware.
Most systems have Intel+Nvidia though, so I prefer to go full AMD on Linux without issues.

In the large company I work for, we are transitioning from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
While intel 9th gen core i5 laptops were perfectly workable with Windows 10 we know find that with Windows 11 they have become unbearably slow. Leading us to having to renew a much bigger portion of our hardware then was accounted for.
So it is not surprising to see Windows 11 performing less than Ubuntu. In some benchmarks the performance of Windows 11 is abysmal at best....

            What is "creepy" about Ubuntu?

Refresh my memory, do you not use a custom compiled kernel?

All the people ragging on Windows are missing the point, none of these benchmarks means a thing unless you actually use the software in question.

Example, Ubuntu beat Windows by a considerable margin in the Blender CPU benchmarks, who cares?

When was the last time anyone use Blender rendering in CPU mode? People switched to GPU rendering years ago.

Windows won the Kvazaar ultrafast benchmark. who cares? Few people use this encoder for anything other than benchmarking.

                It doesn't mean a thing.

Yeah, that is another win for Linux. Do that in WinPOS

Was it equal between the 2 systems? Not "defending" Windows (or Linux for that matter), just thinking if the comparison was fair. Thanks.
The compariso wasn't "fair", because on the Linux side the slowest CPU governor was used, cgroups were enabled, partial debugging was enabled, Apparmour was enabled and so on. It's not Linux problem Windows has to use defender due to its design flaws.

It was the same with Windows 10.
