I wouldn't even mind writing a simple gui myself, there are so many stupid easy toolkits available now that can make great gui apps like slint, which even now has python bindings. just make the bloody api's available and someone could whip up a relatively simply monitoring and basic control gui within a couple hours.

Indeed. I hope we can get some kind of APIs or register level documentation or something to enable it.

As an aside, FYI, since you mentioned OCing, the most technically interesting overview of ARC OCing I've seen (which isn't saying much since I haven't exhaustively searched about that use case) is this:

They refer to some custom OCing SW tools and API based settings and HW level stuff though all their work was done on windows so
maybe nothing other than general strategy / information may be applicable to linux. I thought it might shed some light into how to dig
into some of the HW level sensor / control interfaces for linux but it seemed inconclusive as to that for me.

Can I ask if I have an A770 that I wish to use for gaming on Linux for Proton or like retro emulation like RPCS3/PCSX2/Dolphin? Would it be better than my GTX1660 Super? Reading comments, it looks like it might actually be worse.

it should support the required features now, as for perf, dunno would need to see benchmarks

I read somewhere that it is still missing features and once the Xe driver is feature complete, they would be backported to the i915 driver or something.

that would probably have been fairly old

Gee thanks. Maybe I'll go install the A770 and try it out when I upgrade my kernel to 6.8.

I worked with them to add the plugin to fwupd: https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/blob/...-gsc/README.md -- but they never made any of the firmware on the LVFS public. It's certainly very disappointing.

disappointing is putting it lightly, if we download the files ourselves, can we update them using fwupd, or is it better to just use igsc cli?

Yes, It should work -- but it's been months since I tested any of the igsc functionality.
