One of the patches does not appear to be passing code review. The optimization is considered unsafe when the media pipeline is selected.

lol it was weird how he could quickly find optimizations, it will be funny if his patches don't make it because of safety issues.

This is amazing! This guy's gotta be some kind of genius! You can call it lucky if he did it one time, twice a coincidence, thrice is a pattern

My understanding is that NVIDIA is just gonna periodically release their in-house stuff as source code. It's not really deep two-way collaboration in the source trees or anything like that. Certainly a good step forward, but not really quite what we need.

That's a kernel driver only. Nvidia doesn't provide any open-source user-space drivers. There's a chance NVK might include support support for Nvidia's OGK kernel driver (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/nouve...ge_requests/65) but it's not decided on (current focus is on improving the Nouveau kernel driver).

They plan to put the driver on Linus’ tree. It is not ready for a pull request yet. Anyway, this is exactly what Linus Torvalds etcetera wanted. People complaining about it seem to have forgotten why they were complaining.
