Almost good news. Linux knows that its X-display is outdated. So the only replacement now seems to be Wayland, which is still limited & buggy. In the meantime, both Gnome & KDE are trying to help Wayland become more usable.

This news item is about the late model Intel Graphic Driver. Very few screen based computers have this hardware. When the hardware arrives, not many will have it. Most users have old hardware, or any of the more common hardware choices, including AMD, Nvidia, etc.
When the first software finally arrives, it will be very limited & buggy. It may take some effort and time to be easily usable. On screen based computing, both Microsoft & Apple will continue to dominate.
The good news is that this coding effort is starting.
