hopefully never. anything with at least an order of magnitude more security vulnerabilities than legitimate use cases doesn't belong in the mainline kernel.

Intel nixed SGX from many of it's new consumer-grade CPUs, so it's not a thing that is greatly in demand outside of the business-grade server space, where it's presence is significant, but usage is not clear. I have only encountered a handful of SGX-enabled data protection/security software programs on the business-side of things and the consumer-side apparently has nothing apart from UHD-BD playback, which is only possible with a few of the Intel CPU/GPU pairings and UHD-BD optical drives, which are not widely available or sold in stores.
