Not surprising. Intel has a history of "encouraging" its customer to upgrade via selective support.

We are in the process of switching previous platforms to OpenCL 3.0 and intend to be done by end of June.

If someone is really interested, they can build an OpenCL 3.0 driver from our opensource github repository by modifying the relevant hw_info_<platform>.inl file to set clVersionSupport to 30. The delay in switching older platforms is only tied to internal processes.

If anyone has questions / concerns / feedback, feel free to open an issue on our github.

OpenCL 3.0 is essentially OpenCL 1.2...

Hey Adam, not strictly related to Intel, but is there a conformance test needed to advertise version 3 support?

              Like openGL 4.5 etc?

If so, is this test open?

In cooperation with Khronos we have updated the language on our release page:

Product is based on a published Khronos specification and is expected to pass the Khronos Conformance Process when available. Current conformance status can be found at https://www.khronos.org/conformance.
Khronos maintains a Github with CTS

After consulting with Khronos , we are deferring switching older platforms to OpenCL 3.0 until the spec is finalized. If you would like to try OpenCL 3.0 on those platforms, you can do so, by following instructions on our Github.
