Intel Working To Improve The Reset Experience During GPU Hangs

Hopefully this could be shared with the other FOSS drivers, as this is a really needed functionality.

Playing Eve Online with any r600g or radeonsi card causes a GPU reset on every undock from station and every jump between star systems. When it happens the screen freezes for a few seconds then kwin crashes and restarts. Sometimes it recovers successfully, but most times it locks the machine up hard and the only option is to hit the reset button. This is not OK. It's 2018 and by this stage nothing should be capable of locking any machine up hard.

What kind of problems do you have?

Any GPU hang can hang the whole system. Examples include amdgpu llvm backend producing some buggy machine code (happened with dxvk before).
