    7.12 - speculation time...

7.12s are coming soon - time to play the guessing game again...

    I'll start:

Name: about time fglrx stopped flickering

Fetures: latest installscripts from phorogit, alot more bugs found, fgl pci ids added, 1 bug fixed ,tiny changelog plus a speed bump in et:qw (with a watermark hidden n the bottom right corner and a version bump to ccc yet no new features)

    Date: 18th Dec

On a more serious side, im actually quite happy with the driver train - you know theres always something round the corner... n if there isn't theres radeon HD

I suppose it'll be once the linux team expands and most of the ati documentation is released that will start to see the driver mature... hopefully this'll coincide with a native steam + source port by valve and more interaction with the community...

No chance you can make a mini pci-x card for the eeepc while your at it

So far, their release notes indicate the annoying ---\___ tearing pattern is going to persist, that's not good.

For some reason, on upgrade, I'm having trouble getting compiz to work with AIGLX (same xorg.conf ends up with no composite extension). Also, 1400x1050 no longer seems to be settable. Finally, suspend to ram appears broken on this update (previously, I couldn't resume, but I could sucessfully enter sleep, now the laptop won't enter sleep.

Sorry, I don't know, I'm a Gentoo user and we have got better things than these packager scripts. *g*

Yes, the best thing is that they did not remove the FireGL pci ids, but Xserver 1.4 support is not really good. fglrxinfo still gets stuck as first command and compiz will not work there. My script is uptodate, but did not see much improvement. The bug fixed are not the ones I found before. gl2benchmark still segfaults with xserver 1.4 and x86_64.

Whatever problems they left in this release, the mem leak is out AND the firegl are in.
They surely had big pain to enable firegl this time so I expect more bug fixes for the next release.
