  • ATI X300SE - Unsupported Hardware???

As AMD/ATI doesn't seem to have a forum or something to ask question i thought to ask it here...

Normally all my computers have nvidia graphics and i never had any problems with them... Now i got an extra workstation @ work, but it has an ATI...
I tried installing the ati driver and that seem to have worked...:

You would think all is well... but the driver draws a bitmap, watermark kind of thing on my screen, in the right bottom corner. It's an AMD logo with under it UNSUPPORTED HARDWARE. As i have read the other issue with the watermark I wondered if you had heard anything about this...

I was thinking to switch to the open source driver but first i wasn't sure if this gpu is supposed to be supported and second I was wondering if the opensource driver supports a second screen within one single large framebuffer, like twinview for the nvidia drivers....

Since the link above talks about creating a post in the fora --

I had this issue with 8.39.4 on Gentoo AMD64 using a hacked ebuild - I've corrected the ebuild to make sure that /etc/ati/control is pulled out of the tarball -- it was not in the install section of the ebuild.

I suppose I should update the driver bump bug on
