It always find these monthly bash oops sorry information sessions interesting. I have been running the fglrx driver now for some considerable time and have never had any trouble with it at all. In that period of time I have only had two versions of the driver, I am currently running the one released in june this year.
I currently have two main systems one uses an Sapphire Radeon HD4870 and the other an ASUS Nvidia 9600. I have found the 9600 is somewhat faster than the 4870 although there is little difference with antialiasing and such turned right up.
With what I am doing and the games I play (mainly MSTS) on the whole I find that FGLRX is better than than the windows driver.
I think AMD deserves mor credit for what they are doing,

      Good Work,

"I find that FGLRX is better than than the windows driver."

            you are Joking do you?

unigine haven works perfect on the windows-catalyst

            but on Linux(OpenGL) fglx can't!

the UVD2 viedeo acceleration on the windows-catalyst works good....

the linux one is still buggy in the word of "kano" 'not usable'

fglrx lag on features vs radeon EXA,KMS,Xv

AND there are many dx10 and dx11 games.. but there is no OpenGL3.x based game....

amd still fix many bug's on dx10 and dx11 games.....

but they can't fix openGL3 games because... there is no game.....

only "unigine haven" demo... LOL fixed in fglrx 10.1 next Year! (yes i know its still 2009 right now,..)

That's not true because there is a test program.

It also doesn't matter what OpenGL versions or DirectX versions you have. It's only good for developpers. It doesn't mean that a newer version of OpenGL and DirectX makes games look better.

For example... Direct3D 10 (DirectX 10) was what made Crysis look so good, right? WRONG! By editing a config file in Windows XP and DirectX 9, you could have the Ultra Quality option and it looked just the same.

Don't be so fooled by marketing

                hahahahhahaha hahah hhhhaaa hahah hahahaha

there is no game but a test programm...

a test programm is not a game! they can not fix grafik bugs in real games because there is no game.-

"For example... Direct3D 10 (DirectX 10) was what made Crysis look so good, right? WRONG!"

i know that...... but openGL3 is much faster on the same because FBO rendering and contrain good-looking-VTF

i know that ... but i know its not the same but yes Crysis do not use all dx10 features--.

there are some grafic effekts that directX9c can not handle!

for exampel 'sun shining between leaves of trees'

"Don't be so fooled by marketing "

o yes..... i Buy amd-DX10 hardware to play directX9c+nvidia-only-VTF because dx9c amd hardware can't handle VTF...

thats not marketing ! DX11-hardware is also not marketing Tessellation is Awesome and much faster in openCL!! !

Are you REALLY sure? Lots of ppl have to use crude hacks to enable DXVA for something better than H264 L4.1 - better test it yourself before you write something!

                      wikipedia:

                      New features:

                      * Fixed pipelines[9] are being done away with in favor of fully programmable pipelines (often referred to as unified pipeline architecture), which can be programmed to emulate the same.
                      * New state object to enable (mostly) the CPU to change states efficiently.
                      * Shader model 4.0, enhances the programmability of the graphics pipeline. It adds instructions for integer and bitwise calculations.
                      * Geometry shaders, which work on adjacent triangles which form a mesh.
                      * Texture arrays enable swapping of textures in GPU without CPU intervention.
                      * Predicated Rendering allows drawing calls to be ignored based on some other conditions. This enables rapid occlusion culling, which prevents objects from being rendered if it is not visible or too far to be visible.
                      * Instancing 2.0 support, allowing multiple instances of similar meshes, such as armies, or grass or trees, to be rendered in a single draw call, reducing the processing time needed for multiple similar objects to that of a single one.[10]

                      for exampel:

                      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geometry_shaders

you can't do this with your DirectX9...
