Idle power consumption with performance governor?

I think I remember people discussing that modern Intel CPUs do their own power saving now and even when the operating system sets the highest clock speed, they are still consuming barely more power than on the lowest clock speed as long as they don't have work to do.

Has anyone measured that? Michael any chance we can get a comparison between AMD and Intel CPUs with both idle and full load on amd and intel, with at least performance and powersave governor each?
