Phoronix: Intel Turbo Boost Max 3.0 Support For Linux

Earlier this year I heard from an Intel PR representative they had no plans for a Turbo Boost Max 3.0 Linux driver and immediately heard after that from a developer it was bollocks from the media department as usual. Today patches have emerged for supporting Turbo Boost Max 3.0 in the Linux kernel...

Phoronix, Linux Hardware Reviews, Linux hardware benchmarks, Linux server benchmarks, Linux benchmarking, Desktop Linux, Linux performance, Open Source graphics, Linux How To, Ubuntu benchmarks, Ubuntu hardware, Phoronix Test Suite

Of course the PR department doesn't know what's going on.
Good to see the #1 organizational contributor to the Linux Kernel continuing to support its products. The new turbo boost stuff will really take off with Skylake E next year.

      Rhubarb, rhubarb<cough>HMP patches</cough>walla walla.
I assume it needs more than just a clock-frequency driver, but also changes to whatever scheduler.

Why can't Intel's media people keep their bollocks to themselves?

There should be a law or something...

My thought are that they are typically marketing jerks, that are up Apples and/or Microsoft ass. "Linux?? Of course not!"

They should just let a developer that is tired of sitting inside all the time to do the PR now and then.

Media people are useless in most other companies too. Like say AMD, but the list is long.

No, the risk of a "Fuck you XXXX" (with XXXX being something that actually deserves this a lot) is too great.
The marketing types at the helm of most companies think that any interaction must conform to classical corporate fake friendlyness.

Yup, 4 of the patches in the patch series are to enhance the scheduler to provide the proper support.

Marvelous. Good to see that Intel has the right priorities regarding continuing Linux support.
