    Both SMT and CMT end up duplicating certain parts of a full "core," as they were originally known as.

    CMT definitely duplicates more hardware, meaning you can generally expect it to do better than SMT can. But fundamentally, they do the exact same thing - it's simply a matter of degree.

    If they duplicated 100% of the core, everyone would agree it's another core. CMT simply duplicates more than SMT does.
