I quit reading at "from the 1980's".
A "supercomputer" is only a linear multiple of whatever is available at the time. As time progresses, performance increases exponentially.

Moore's law preducts transistor count doubling ever two years, which silently implies a more than doubling of performance within the same period.

You start with 1 dollar in 1980, and double it every two years, so double it 16 times. By now you've accumulated $65536.00.
Was a CRAY supercomputer 65536 times the performance level of, for example, an intel 80186? Probably not...

In other words... YOU AREN'T PROVING ANYTHING!!!!! You certainly are NOT proving that iCRAP is anything but worthless SHIT.

My ~7 year old hand held radioshack calculator is so fast that it finishes the calculation and the screen goes blank, even before I have a chance to key in the formula. Phew! The resolution is so high, you need a magnifying glass to see specks of dust displayed on it. Whoa! But best of all: LINUX RUNS LIKE A LEMON ON IT!!! Michael, what am I bid for this magical device? Will you be the next Steve Jobs? Pretty please?

In a vacuum, they'd fall at the same speed - but from a skyscraper, hmm. In air, the acceleration/mass is the same while the drag/mass depends on the shape and size ... the ipad is a fairly massive little thing, but it's also thin and flat, so I guess you're right.

    But Cray-2 will not blend.

Yep! It's about how ARM has reached parity with Cray2. Meaning if you bogged Cray2 down with the same crap Apple software that constantly makes its way onto the iFad2 ARM platform it would run out of memory and quit to the homescreen constantly too. Not even Cray2 would be good enough to run Apple crap correctly.

    Stop whinging

Come on guys, stop whinging about the article. If you didn't find this interesting then WTF are you reading Phoronix for? Most/lots of us have a smartphone or tablet these days, probably running Android with similar hardware and capabilities.

And here is what the website is about according to Phoronix.

Phoronix Media is the largest Internet media company devoted to enriching the Linux hardware experience and catering its content to Linux gamers and computer enthusiasts.
