Linux 6.14 To Add Support For SpacemiT's "Energy Efficient AI" RISC-V CPUs

Phoronix: Linux 6.14 To Add Support For SpacemiT's "Energy Efficient AI" RISC-V CPUs

The upcoming Linux 6.14 kernel is poised to introduce initial support for SpacemiT platforms, the Chinese computing chip company developing "next-generation RISC-V high-performance CPUs." For this next Linux kernel release the SpaceMiT Key Stone K1 octa-core RISC-V AI CPU with SpacemiT X60 cores will see support...

hmm, their pci-e port on milk-v boards gives lots of headache to get amdgpu working, limited to 32-bit for dma. only 384 mb of pci bar and problems with msi on older radeons

This is also the CPU used in Deep Computing's ROMA II laptop. So exciting news! Edit: K1.

Here is the status tracking page for Spacemit K1/M1 support: https://github.com/spacemit-com/linux/wiki
I currently have the milkv jupiter running with a modified vendor kernel to get my radeon 560 working and it works decently despite it needing some ugly hacks on the vendor kernel.

the NPU on these devices should be quite acceptable for things like vision work.

This doesn't surprise me, pcie is hardly "first class support" on these devices.

Its not yet clear if the vendor pcie hw block is shit or if its just a shitty implementation in the vendor kernel... At least my RX 560 runs (though only on the patched 6.1, not on the more recent 6.6) even if somewhat unstable.

              Hello
what is "unstable" for you ?
for me it's - sometimes ( usualy under load) display output freezes then gpu reset happens then it's back to gdm login

WTF? This prompted me to check on my Milk-V Oasis pre-order, and I just got an email at 2:30am letting me know that they canceled my preorder at my request (which I never did).

Figures. The most exciting RISC-V board to date ends up being vaporware.

yeah, sophgo is in hot water with the USA, and afaik TSMC has had to halt any stuff in regards to them. It's possible the USA will turn around and say that sophgo can continue working with tsmc, but until they do the SOC will be on indefinite hiatus.
