Why are the speedometer results awesome on lunar lake and poor on strix?

No one wants to nerd over these charts, Michael. Show us how the battery life is on Lunar Lake because 20hr linux laptop is literally their strongest pull. If you want performance there's Arrow Lake FWIW.

He showed performance-per-watt results and power consumption, which collectively I would argue is more important seeing as not all laptops are going to come with the same battery. Seeing power consumption matters more than how many hours of battery life you get on laptops of different configurations.

Having said all that, LL doesn't appear to handily beat out SP in efficiency.

That's right - Strix doesn't support HFI, but this patch should help Strix hit the proper performance, and this patch should help with scheduler placing tasks properly.

These patches look awesome. I imagine they'll assist in performance, power usage, and performance-per-watt, especially for tasks that don't saturate every core and thread. Fingers crossed they land in 6.13 / asap.

Hey Michael, Thanks for the review. Do you have planned at some point looking at the Lunar Lake battery life for browsing or video playing? Allegedly Windows gets great numbers, I haven't been able to see any Linux numbers just yet.

Once they sort out the kernel driver or Mesa performance issues for the Intel iGPU, LL still looks compelling for the ultra portable / maximum battery life crowd.

The following statement is not correct, since the Strix do not support HFI:

Also, did you only change the EPP Sysfs or did you used power-profiles-daemon to change these?

Edit: Seems like ppd was used, since boost was disabled on amd powersave profile
