Phoronix: Updated DeviceTree Gets Microsoft Windows Dev Kit 2023 Booting Linux

Microsoft's Windows Dev Kit 2023 also known as "Project Volterra" was an early effor to improve the Windows on ARM support by developers via having a nice small form factor ARM PC to run Windows 11. With pending DeviceTree patches there would be mainline support for the Windows Dev Kit 2023 under Linux...

Definitely would be nice to have something to do ARM pipeline builds on with a little more horsepower than a Pi can give.

Mac Mini is available for quite some time, you know.

Yeah, that seems a much better value than this (unironically). But I just HATE macOS with passion. Their HW is great, but their OS pisses me off beyond repair. Asahi needs to up their game, maybe that'll make it tolerable to use a Mac

Dev kits are almost always very expensive for the given hardware, but this thing actually wasn't a terrible deal when it launched at $600. Apple wants $200 to upgrade a Mac Mini to 512GB of storage and a whopping $400 to upgrade to 24GB of RAM putting that unit at $1200. If this dev kit had a newer Qualcomm / NUVIA SOC it would have really been a comparative bargain.

The base price of the Mac mini is compelling, the price if you want more than 8GB of RAM or 256GB of storage is not.

Luckily, Apple hardware doesn't really hold onto the price after a few years (due to the slightly weak focus of backwards compatibility of the software). So you can pick up some fairly decent hardware for dirt cheap prices online or even at retail like CEX.
