AMD Ryzen 9000 Series Launch Delayed To August

Phoronix: AMD Ryzen 9000 Series Launch Delayed To August

While we have been super eager for the AMD Ryzen 9000 series "Zen 5" desktop processor launch that's been set for 31 July, AMD has issued a last minute delay. Instead the processors will launch in two stages in August...

Yeah. With the trainwreck presented from the other team, they'd be smart to present themselves as super quality conscious.
But I don't mind. I'd take that over broken products any day.

august is a week away, hardly a delay. summer is not the best time to launch anything IT related. At least some IT people have life and go to holidays

Intel is already in the mud, so Ryzen 9000 series market price will obviously be well above MSRP before ArrowLake launch, so it doesn't matter how long they want to delay it.

Can't wait for 9000 series with 3D cache released. Not like 5950X is bad but I just need a second PC - and why not make it super fast. Launching 3D CPUs so soon will definitely trigger some antimonopoly investigations considering how other team is looking right now

Not shipping broken things is of course the right move, but Zen 5 was expected to release last year. It's concerning that even with an extra seven months tacked on they still couldn't produce acceptable parts. I remember hearing that AMD said they are going to a two year cadence instead of 18 months for CPU, but it seems they can't even hit that reliably. They are lucky Intel is even worse, but relying on luck is a good way to go bankrupt. Also, it just makes the industry look incompetent.

I hope at least these parts are 'faulty' in such a way that they are saleable in some fashion, else that's a massive loss in every respect.

Glad AMD caught what ever they did on time, I don't recall AMD releasing any Zen CPU architecture without some major problem. Hopefully this delay will allow them to have a clean launch.

                Zen 1: FMA3 crashing problems
Zen 2: wrong frequencies, high voltage spikes(like 13/14 Gen Intel now), RdRand issue causing Linux distros/games not to run at launch
Zen 3: USB Connectivity Issues which still haven't been fixed.
Zen 4: XMP/EXPO profiles leading to sending excessive voltage to the CPU causing them to catch fire.

Lets hope they recalled desktop parts and skipped mobile parts not because mobile is already soldered (so recall would mean nightmare and a lot of e-waste).

Was it? Even before the zen 4 release, I had heard it was slated for 2024 https://www.anandtech.com/show/17439...roarchitecture did I miss some news.
