These are just objective facts. I do not participate in any discussion.
Pretty graphics..., utterly meaningless, to repeat myself for anyone who didn't read:
Yup, 73%, amongst them, say 100%, 75% that didn't "sanction Russia". My country also voted for that resolution, it means literally nothing, if you know how diplomacy works, you know for sure that those things are agreed in advance, they are meaningless. Those who are trully against Russia, they declared sanctions, and that's far less than 1/4 of the world.

I have been in Russia multiple times and I totally like the Russians but its not entirely true what you say*. Yes nobody will beat you up ...but thats not the point. Its about the state and politics. Political topics - especially concerning Putin- are usually topics everyone is avoiding. Do this in France or Italy or US even germany and you will have a multicoloured discussion with a lot of different opinions. Do this in russia...nobody starts to engage.

*Thats why I urge everyone to distinguish between People of Russia and Politicians of Russia. The average russian is a kind person don't blame them.

You are now blatantly lying. Read what I have written many times.

So, why don't you talk about the murdered journalists in Ukraine. Not so long ago, several channels in the Ukraine were closed. And the law prohibited any criticism of the authorities. Once again, I say, you can open any Western media with us. But you will not open any of our media at home! If you don't believe me, I can take screenshots for you. I have more friends in Ukraine. And we look at it all with regret. The Russian Army does not purposefully kill civilians. She kills people who for 10 years called to kill Russians, robbed Ukraine and killed their own inhabitants. This is a big tragedy for all our peoples. We still remember the terrorists in Chechnya who took civilians hostage and blew up our cities. In Ukraine, the same situation.

But you will never hear this in Russia or Belarus. There, criminal responsibility for inciting interethnic hatred and is equated to terrorism. In the Russian Federation, they always speak well of the Ukrainians and all world peoples. RF is a multinational country with more than 190 ethnic groups. This is the country that has suffered the most from terrorism in the country itself, and especially in Chechnya and Dagestan. Therefore, with the advent of Putin, criminal responsibility was introduced for inciting ethnic hatred. All conflicts within the country were stopped. For more than 20 years, peace and tranquility have been living in our territory. Sochi Olympics and the World Football Championship showed that in the Russian Federation people treat everyone well, regardless of their religion or country. While other countries are trying to exterminate rare ethnic groups, our country is trying to preserve and unite them. You will never hear in the Russian Federation to humiliate Europeans or Americans, but you will hear how they call for humiliating Russians in EU and USA. Unfortunately, everyone has confused politics and peoples, and more and more calls are being made to expel Russian students and to ban disabled people from performing at the Paralympics. Crazy politicians apparently believe that disabled people are fighting in Ukraine and threaten their safety. It's absurd and the world has gone mad. How everyone quickly forgot that the President of Ukraine - Volodymyr Zelensky at the Security Council of Europe threatened the whole world with nuclear weapons. From this Europe would suffer the most. Ukraine has the technology and resources to create a dirty bomb that is more terrifying than a conventional nuclear bomb and makes territories uninhabitable. Ukraine has been blackmailing the Russian Federation for more than 30 years on every occasion, they have no gas and oil, their economy is in decline and they are bankrupt, but she could start blackmailing Europe in the same way, which she has already begun to do at the Security Council of Europe. The politicians of Ukraine pumped the people of Ukraine for years into conflict with Russia, and at the same time they stole all European money and weapons and sold weapons to the whole world. They called themselves the most powerful army in the world, and everyone was told that they were fighting the Russian Federation, but they were killing their own citizens. But everyone was tired of this, and Belarus and Kazakhstan supported Russia. Ukraine could not raise its army, but stole all these years, and was not ready for the Russian invasion. This is a problem for all our peoples. Also, no one will tell you about the thousands of scammers from Ukraine who deceived our grandmothers, mothers, cancer patients and mothers of children. These people have no honor or conscience. This is very sad. But Europe has already faced these people with an influx of migrants who behave arrogantly and aggressively.

It's bad that they try to mix science and politics. Are uneducated idiots who believe that openblas are used to create weapons. Apparently these people never went to university. This is a linear algebra library that uses a lot of scientific calculations. The mathematical school in Russia is one of the strongest. And most importantly, openblas is used by the lib2geom and opencv libraries. Which are used in graphic editors and computer vision. In this case, these mentally ill people should be banned from kitchen knives, because they can kill a person. Therefore, openblas maintainers should apologize to the people of Russia and resign. There is no place for politics and mentally ill maintainers in open source. All goodness and peace!

I would suggest the same for any politicans in any country. I still cannot understand why people call wealthy Russians Oligarchs, but do not do the same to US's. But please try not to assure me that they are not involved in politics - big money always involved no matter where.

          • Being open source all this achieves is inconvenience Russian developers by causing them extra work trough forcing them to fork OpenBLAS.

So while I can understand the sentiment behind it, unlike kicking Russian foreign-facing propaganda outlets like RT and Sputnik off western platforms this won't achieve anything tangible. All it does is create precedent that could be used to justify another only similar event like it and then cause an event-justification-event-chain where we get further and further from the original event to eventually end up with full blown cancel culture of whole projects and technologies.

That could easily be something major to do with GLIBC or GCC over the myriad of eyebrow raising statements Richard Stallman has made since the late 1970s. That would end up hurting open source in a massive way that I don't think any sane person would consider worth it over sending a statement by inconveniencing some Russian developers.

Well, I don't care for sports, I'm just talking in principle. Also, youa re right that video is new, but I can't edit my post, regardless of that, it's a talk show where host is known to say such things, in context, it is not a threat, but either way, it was not Russian officials who said that.
Not every country in the world has Russian superyachts, Russian money, significant trade or flights to/from Russia. Eventhough it's mostly the "West", the rouble and the Russian stockmarket are not exactly doing great right now. And it is only going to get worse over time. So I don't think it matters whether it is 1/4th of the world or not, the sanctions seem to have their intended effect already.

Thanks for correcting the record about the video I posted. My point is that this is the kind of stuff shown prominently on Russian tv, especially in recent weeks. You will not see anything similar anywhere in the USA or Europe. Over here we don't boast about nuclear weapons, test them very publicly or make threats with nuclear weapons. The majority of Europeans are very much against nuclear weapons (so we don't have any ICBMs or other nuclear missiles). Sadly US+Russia still have more nuclear warheads than cities in the world. Not something to be proud of or boast about really. Anyway, hopefully that explains why we think the Russians are crazy with their nuclear posturing without any provocation.

unlike USSR's, USA's invasion of Afghanistan was justified.

HOW DARE THEY TO INVERVENE IN CIVIL WAR!!!!111111

what countries have been invaded by the EU army? Be very specific!

Fun fact: having Russia as a neighbour is a great incentive to join NATO. isn't that weird, that most democratically governed countries that exist from the soviet sphere of influance applied for membership as soon as soviet grip on them weakened?

oh, no! enemies, enemies everywhere! poor Russia, lets defend the Motherland! I bet all the enemies envy Russia's riches!

invading Iraq was obviously based on a 'questionable' evidence, no need to sugar coat it. it still doesn't mean other countries should use it as an excuse for their modern behaviour.
                    and 'invading' yugoslavia was just.
"so is Russia, my dear." -not even remotely close.
Look at how many people were going to russia from ex USSR to work after perestroika, people who have oriental looks and people who have middle eastern shade of skin. Compare to Ukraine. See difference.

"yeap, lets forget about half the stuff russians did to ukrainians and blame everything on ukrainians." - well considering that Stalin was Georgian and half USSR communist elite was Ukranian - or you dont know or remember it? Well, that is awkward...

"ah, I see. Ukrainians had to be bought, otherwise they would chose an everlasting brotherhood with Moskals" - not bought, bribed. And peopel had to be shot to sparkle violence that led to significant consequences. If this is not meddling into politics of sovereign countries i dont know what is. Thanks Obama!(in cryngy voice)

"unlike USSR's, USA's invasion of Afghanistan was justified." - dont disagree, fuck communists and all who lead that way.

Sorry, change Afghanistan to Iraq and justify it please. WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION.
What about Vietnam? What about constantly associating and meddling leaders of other countries?

But fuck whataboutism. Russia did not do good in Ukrain in last couple of weeks. I dont justify it, but i want people to see and understand WHY.

"HOW DARE THEY TO INVERVENE IN CIVIL WAR!!!!111111" - so how is it different then Donbas? Then Abhasia? Then Crimea? Oh and before you even go about how Russia annexed crimea, DO SPEAK to people from there. Everyone will tell you they are happy they are not in Ukrain. ANd please justify Ukrain cutting off almost only water supply, where peopel lsot 95% of water in Crimea. UKRAIN KILLS ITS OWN CITIZENS. Please justify it.??? [crickets]

"what countries have been invaded by the EU army? Be very specific!" - Google "EU peacekeepers".

"Fun fact: having Russia as a neighbour is a great incentive to join NATO. isn't that weird, that most democratically governed countries that exist from the soviet sphere of influance applied for membership as soon as soviet grip on them weakened?" - fun fact Russia is not USSR, but fact that NATO instead of dissolving now started to grow next to new born country told that country all it needed to know with regards where enemies are. And dont conflate Russians with USSR. Stallin was Georgian, fyio.

"oh, no! enemies, enemies everywhere! poor Russia, lets defend the Motherland! I bet all the enemies envy Russia's riches!" - and yet you have not disputed it, nothing to say? Cause you know I am right on this one. Boom! Headshot!

"invading Iraq was obviously based on a 'questionable' evidence, no need to sugar coat it. it still doesn't mean other countries should use it as an excuse for their modern behaviour.
and 'invading' yugoslavia was just." - so you justify russia invading Ukraine? Donbass region fought for 8 years for its independence.
Same goes for Crimea and Abhasia?

Whatever you're talking about isn't democracy, itself.

Any country not generally considered a democracy will have fewer protections of speech and expression than most democracies.

Did you happen to hear that Russia is now debating a law that would criminalize anyone reporting news the government disputes? Their last, independent TV station finally ceased broadcasting yesterday, after their broadcasts were being jammed.

There are better and worse ways to do it. And any country will have changes in leadership or priorities, over time.

China is indeed organized, but it's also big and knows how to throw its weight around. However, Japan and South Korea have also accomplished much and are both democracies. They might not move as fast, but have accomplished the same sorts of advancements as China. What's more, all three countries were devastated, by the end of World War II. Japan and South Korea developed and advanced much earlier than China.
"Um, no. The risk democracies face is tyranny of the majority." - sorry thats what i meant to say.
"have Constitutional rights and other legal protections." - safeguards fail. Freedom of speech is about to fail under disguise of hate speech legislation. Look at Kanada for example, Jordan Petrson long warned about language police. Now peaceful demonstrants will have long reaching consequences in their lives.

"Did you happen to hear that Russia is now debating a law that would criminalize anyone reporting news the government disputes?" - First step of becoming a NAZI. So is US, makes first steps. one of first steps of segregsating jews, was to brand them with "they have sicknesses". Which anticovidvaxxers are starting to experience. And monopolies like Google and Metabook force informational blockade against those who scientifically disagree with regime, like epidemiologists and virologists.

"But unlike totalitarian regime who needs one or two enemies", Russia has more than it needs since it was rebuilt from USSR.
