Earlier this month the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G and Ryzen 7 5700G desktop APUs officially launched for retail availability. Unfortunately we were not seeded with any review sample for being able to conduct Linux testing on these Zen 3 APUs with Vega graphics, but ended up purchasing one afterwards due to the number of readers inquiring about the Linux support. Here are some preliminary benchmarks of the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G.

Considering the wattage, these are impressive results.
I just wish AMD would release a 5700; same thing as the 5700G minus the iGPU, for a lower price.

Just a reminder: Intel uses severely castrated Gen 12 graphics for its desktop Rocket Lake CPUs. Mobile Tiger Lake CPUs feature up to three more times execution units and as a result they are a lot faster.

Michael, do you have 5800X? It really feels wierd to not compare 5700G to 5800X as essentially they are almost the same CPU with just less cache with iGPU

Also, AMD seem to finally enable ECC support on non-pro APUs.

Making this an immaculate choice for a decently priced, decently performing, reliable work system. Especially in light of the current gpu pricing insanity.

I've been looking forward to Michael reviewing this processor, I got one in an HP pre-built in May, added another 16GB of RAM and have been wondering if it's really worth it going to a proper motherboard, or if I'm getting semi-decent performance out of the crappy HP business machine? I will admit that the tiny 180 watt power supply and dinky fans make for a very quiet machine and I've played quite a few games through on this rig. I'm about to take on Arkham Knight and I think that might turn out to be somewhat unrewarding.

AFAIK 5700G is without ECC support? At least my default dealer shows it as such.
