          Too bad we're probably not going to see P10 systems from Raptor Computing Systems:
          IBM took the wraps off POWER10 officially today , a (Samsung-manufactured) 7nm monster in 18 layers with up to 15 SMT-8 cores (120 threads)...

            Never tell never. If IBM does P10 with generic DDR4/5 then Raptor may go ahead with their P10....

              But that's one of the ways to solve the issue. The other is a third-party open OMI controller or convincing micron to open theirs.

              Though OMI is way overkill for most desktop/workstation needs.

              But even a process refresh 10nm on P9 and upgrade to ddr5 could be a viable product.


              And since the ISA is open, there's still the possibility a more destkop oriented design pops up. Libre-SOC is one in the works, But there are potentially others...

              But the tool-chain often explicitly target to P9/P10, etc, instead of specific sub-features of the ISA bring an additional wrinkle to the process.

                Even has memory encryption like EPYC! Not sure if it has register encryption too, though. But EPYC is a moot point when basically no one running them in a server has the security features on! Crazy... Find me anyone running AMD in a production server with the new security features enabled, I dare you (except, supposedly Google Compute)!
