Good news. It's been pretty obvious to anyone following it that ROCm has been understaffed. Drivers lagging 2 years behind hardware is getting a bit extreme.

Is birdie aware? He could apply and destroy AMD from the inside for once and all.

This is of course great news for FOS support - feature, stability and performance wise.
Which sadly implies they are in a confident position, so they will increase their margins, so the money value of their offerings will continue dropping, which also means that intel won't be that pressed to lower its own prices.
Why the f are companies only nice to customers when they are in peril...
all plain wrong... if you check launch prices of 16core AMD cpus like threadripper 1950X then 2950X then ryzen 3950X then 5950X
you will find that the launch prices always did go down and the performance did go up.

really dude whats your fucking problem ?

on GPU side... if you only see newest cards like 6800/6800XT then the prices are very high but if you check price search engines like geizhals.de and you watch for the 6900XT then you will find that the prices already dropped it startet at 2000-1800€ right now you get a 6900XT for 1389€

if you also watch the prices for PRE-Raytracing cards you can get a very good Vega64 for 220€ on ebay.
so what is your problem? yes the prices of super-highend is high but anything else drops in price like crazy.
        I bought 6 bega 64 in 2017 -. one for 740€ 5 for 667€ ... you get it right now for 220€
means in 3 years 3 times cheaper.

really dude whats your fucking problem? if you have 250€ and you wait 3 years you will get a 6800XT for 250€-.

Second - if amd was after maximizing their profits, they'd do more to squeeze market share out of their competitor. They already have the performance edge, so any price discount will act as a multiplied at making intel look that much worse in comparison.
it is very simple why amd can not increase market share by give a price discount...
TSMC and Global Foundtries work at maximum capacity means AMD can NOT increase production of CPUs or GPUs right now.
and the market just buy everything they sell.
so what you want is IMPOSSIBLE... AMD just does not have the ability to do so. they produce at the maximum capacity and the market still demand more and more.

We probably have directors like that but that's not the kind of job I'm looking for (although I guess it might be a nice stepping stone towards retirement). This kind of interaction I mostly do when I can't sleep but am too tired to work.

And yes the monitor is set to cut out essentially all the blue light at night

Not exactly with that Linux Technical Lead position but seems like there is obvious overlap and more focused on partners / distro vendors than the 'community'. Would be fun though having to stop worrying about ad-blockers and other such annoyances...

The typical answer for all such large organizations is that if you are the better than perfect fit, and have extraordinary talents, you will get to choose where to live, and/or request a pony (that is a splunk reference).

more money for you is always good. and i think AMD should support you even more for example a 6900XT for you would be nice.
you maybe should really write a job request to AMD... maybe they really have a better deal for your work here.
you should not care about ad-blockers at all people like me who want to support you send you money anyway.
