  • PC Reboots adter upgrade to 5900x

After 9 years of using i5 2500k (OC to 4.5GHz) I did an upgrade of my PC
    5900x
    MSI Tomahawk x570 Wifi
    Hyperx Fury RGB 32GB 3600

GPU upgrade in the nearest future.

    Arch Linux

After assembling all parts I wanted to test my new procesor.
Decided to go with blender benchmark and Witcher 3
Witcher takes about 1 - 3 minutes and system reboots
Blender benchmark usually in test 6 (whole benchmark has 6 tests) and PC is rebooting

I didn't do OC Everything apart RAM is on stock. RAM is on XMP profile 3600Mhz but I tested it with memtest whole night - no errors. Checked blender benchmark without XMP and result was the same.

    I disabled C6 states. Didn't help.
Only one thing that helped was to disable Core Performance Boost. But this setting is not default. Default is auto. Without CPB processor is locked at 3.7GHz and it looses a lot of performance.

PSU is not a problem. I check 3 850W PSUs. 2x RM850x from Corsair and Seasonic Focus Gold. Every time reboots occurred.

I'm loosing my mind here. First upgrade for such a log time and can't use my PC.

    It's probably not

    I tried to read journalctl
What I could find is this:

    Code:

    Hello.

I am having the exact same issue with a Ryzen 5800X.
I have tried with XMP on/off, AGESA 1.1.0.0 Patch D and 1.0.8.0 Patch A, PBO on/off, Typical current idle, disabled C6 states and everything possible.

This issue happens to me ONLY when gaming. Stress test and memtest are ok, I have tried even prime95+furmark at the same time to try to stress PSU, and no problems happened.

My motherboard is ASRock B550 Steel Legend.

The only thing different from your log is the bank number, which usually (but not always, sometimes is different) is bc800800060c0859 (and I don't know what this means).

    Have you fixed the problem?

There were a lot of messages referencing BIOS - are you running the latest BIOS for your board ? If not that seems like a good next step.

I'm not ignoring the MCA messages, just looking for low hanging fruit first.

Oh, fun. I am having the same issue. I assumed it was the C-state thing. I finally dug into it enough to find this post. So no solutions other than get a 5950X?
