  • Comparing thermals, clocks and performance of R5 3500X and i5-9400F under Linux

Did some testing with phoronix test suite comparing thermals and clocks of both 6C/6T CPUs (with same cooler, RAM and thermal compound) under room and (light) winter temperatures.

    The article: https://rk.edu.pl/en/comparing-therm...f-under-linux/

tl:dr: R5 3500X is slightly faster (or more depending on benchmark) than i5-9400F and tends to clock bit higher and run bit hotter. In some very specific workloads monolithic ring buss design with lower latency gives Intel an edge.
