        [QUOTE=birdie;n1153024]For some reasons the patches don't apply cleanly even to 5.5-rc6 kernel, so I've applied the remaining bits manually.

        Odd, I've just applied it cleanly to 5.5.0-rc6. It also applied cleanly to 5.4 versions (as can be inferred from replies on lkml). I used gnu patch-2.7.6.

          Does it need to be? Is there a particular quirk of the older kernels that you can't live without?

              I don't see the point. Intel also delivered all it's security flaws after the cpus being out.

              The difference is:
              AMD -> good news
              Intel -> Bad news

                I'm running Fedora 31 which probably contains the latest and greatest patch utility which rejected two pieces of the posted patches probably due to indents. Since I was lazy to read the man page, I just added them manually.

                  If you want hw monitoring so yes.

                    I guess Secure Boot is not happy about self-compiled modules...
                    Secure Boot (the UEFI feature) does not care, but a kernel booted with Secure boot usually enforces signatures on modules using its own infrastructure.
