          I'm looking forward to when you can buy a high spec Arm-based linux workstation or small business server for under US$500 equiv. At the moment there's a huge jump from the sub US$80 raspberry-pi-like boards and the server class Arm boards mentioned in this article.

            I feel your pain!! If they cut the number of cores in half and upped the clocks to say 4GHz this would be one nice workstation processor. What is strange is that we have all these companies going after the server market with these chips but not apparently thinking about the potential in the workstation market. You would think that they would go after a bit of volume simply to underwrite the development costs.

                Of course they say it's the fastest, because that was part of the current 5-year plan and if the speed didn't take a great leap forward the solution would be a single bullet to the back of the head and your organs are harvested for the more-equal to prosper from. Understand, benchmark results are irrelevant to the truth so don't even bother testing.

                  Independently reproducible benchmarks results are relevant. Otherwise, agreed.

                    It's RDMA over Converged Ethernet. And has no use for the average user. IMO even above average user will just use infiniband, FC, FCoE, iSCSI, Ethernet or 10Gb/40Gb fiber and do his business without ever needing to deal with RoCE(learn something new).
