Phoronix: KVM x86 Enabling Nested Virtualization By Default, Other Virtualization Work

The initial round of Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) updates has been sent in for the in-development Linux 4.20/5.0 kernel...

Could someone explain to me what the use-case is for running a nested guest inside a guest that itself resides inside the KVM?
It seems somewhat silly from my perspective.

Well how else are we going to reach inception?

One use case: Testing a system that supports VMs without requiring bare hardware.

Example from my experience: prepare Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop farm (now with new fancy name: Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops) on Linux host. It requires Citrix XenServer or VMware vSphere. In theory there is open-source Xen available, but on my Fedora 27 x64 EFI desktop it is not booting (probably because of EFI - only BIOS booting is supported). After enable nested virtualization in KVM - I successfully installed XenServer as another VM.

Delivering a remote course about OpenStack. Each participant is given one VM (for isolation purposes) and has to install and configure OpenStack there.
