To upgrade or not to upgrade

I just bought a Sapphire Radeon r7 250X for my Home desktop system which is an AMD Phenom II X2 550BE paired with a biostar AM2+ motherboard While the board works perfectly I'm looking to upgrade the motherboard and RAM. I have my eyes on the MSI 970 Gaming motherboard but with Zen launching in 2017 I'm a bit confused as to whether to upgrade now or to wait for AM4 hardware. What do you guys think?
I currently have openSUSE Leap installed and it works just fine with my current setup except the cpu temperature isn't properly reported thanks to the Phenom II being on an AM2+ socket. I mostly use it for video and image editing and casual gaming on WINE

Thanks for replying. Anyway I went with the 970 Gaming board since I decided to upgrade in stages. So next month I'll get an FX-6300 since the R7 250X is getting bottlenecked by the Phenom II particularly in wine games
