It's perhaps easier to wait for a kernel which has this patch included.
Here's a page on installing newer Ubuntu kernels: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=40185

No. This is a very different issue.

Thanks, I hope it will come soon, as I hope Ubuntu team will include the patch in its kernel.

It currently looks like the patch will be in the 3.3 kernel. It might be backported to older kernels but the kernel developers still want to test it.

I'm not a Linux savvy but why do you guys talk about compiling kernel etc. when the debs are available? See here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/PowerManagement With this it requires user to issue literally two terminal commands to get his new kernel ready. I got
                      Code:
                      ~$ uname -a
                      ... 3.0.0-13-generic #22+mjgaspmfix ...
                      so I think I've succeeded.

That it didn't give me any improvements regarding power issues is a whole another story http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...9#post11460009

I'd appreciate if anyone could comment on that last bit.
