I just forgot to say that my ACPI tables and lspci output come from an HP Pavilion dv6730ed laptop; it has proper ASPM, suspend and hibernate on Linux, including 2.6.38+.

B.t.w. I am just trying to build the Linux Firmwarekit ("v4") from svn. OMGLOL.
It's horrible. First you have to have dev-libs/newt and app-arch/dpkg on your system (plus other possible deps, but they were already fulfilled on my system). Okay, but what is really tricky is that it pulls in tons of outdated code - the tons are ok since it builds basically a whole "Linux" system and I'm used to that as Gentoo user - but the code is quite old (2007 and such) but really nasty is the "hardcoded" URLs in the Makefile

Okay, what can you do else than hardcode a path where to get the stuff, but the problem is
a) it pulls also from kernel.org and kernel.org is not restored as it was before and
b) from http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pu...extras/6/SRPMS
it seems exactly the stuff you need for the LFK is gone. Lots of other source rpms and stuff there but all the files in this Makefile seem to be missing. Grrrr.
I try downloading the files manually elsewhere but it sucks.
They definitely need to clean up their makefiles, use more recent code and esp. make sure the code can be wget-ed during build.

If I was not a mere user I'd try to help but maybe if someone could extract the things LFK actually divides from other distribs (the little prog started at bootup and the decompilation/recompilation of DSDTs and such) it would be easier to create or use just any 0815-Rescue CD (there are some distros like Grml around for fixing systems) and just use one of these with the scripts and progs from LFK.

Umm, putting
ftp://mirror.stanford.edu/pub/mirror.../source/SRPMS/
in the Makefile at ./initramfs/srpms/ helped a lot downloading. Thanks University of Stanford for still mirroring stuff.
Had to install rpm5 then.
And, as it seems I finally managed to compile an "usbiso" image. I'll test this and a CD image asap and let you know if it worked and upload it.

I'll tell you who the w3 consortium is. It's a trust a trust of microsoft, HP, Apple, yahoo, sony, amd the same old names. Apples efi that they use for intel and uefi is the same game they all play in sony playstation 3, phone world. It's the code in bios to brick pc's, bring up network and mic and camera. By the time eufi is done, your computer will be able to log onto the network bring up the cpu in slow mode with no fans show no lights and respond to queries from the w3 consortium. If anyone develops an operating system they don't like they'll brick the pc with the boot code dongle. Just like if you try to run another operating system on the ps3. Of course jailbreaking will be completely legal as the work and impliment the impossibility in every iteration of the hardware.

Every article trying to demystify UEFI is a load of fucking crap. It's jailing the PC just like a phone or game console. Not one goddamn thing more or less.
