bummer about coreboot dropping support for older boards. one of the appealing reasons for coreboot is continuation for older boards that had support dropped from manufacturers.

Totally agree with you. Moreover, at least some of these boards weren't really "unmaintained" - i.e. I'm a maintainer of 3 of these boards. They have been dropped mostly because of incompatibility with v4 resource allocator that has been pushed on us by Intel (who didn't want to bear with the extra ifdef's for v3 resource allocator which we could've lived fine with) - more information in my messages at another Phoronix thread
