Somewhat surprisingly, AMD engineers have been working on some new Linux kernel patches for their aging Jadeite platform...

I'm guessing there was some recent commercial use for it where the customer requested this to be completed. It doesn't make sense why this one particular niche platform is suddenly getting support. In Googling it, I hardly found anything about it at all. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a custom chip.

It's also possible that the developer had one and wanted to scratch an itch.

It probably happened to overlap with Renoir ES8336 support work: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=215119

According to this, "Jadeite" may well be a Google development board (also possibly a cancelled Chrome OS device):

Update: It appears that I was wrong, "Jadeite" appears to be the A9-9430, which can be found inside the Lenovo IdeaCentre 310S-08ASR.

Benchmark results for a LENOVO 90G9001PUK with an AMD A9-9430 processor.

Update 2: It also includes the A9-9400, A6-9200e and E2-9000e.

AMD USB 2.0 is still horribly broken with timeouts during large transfers. Half the USB tools for embedded USB development don't work on AMD linux PCs. I love the fast iGPUs but when the basics don't work, you start wondering about going back to Intel.

I dont disagree... but then again I cant remember the last time I used USB 2.0 to do a large file transfer. What size files are you considering "large" in 2022?

Is there a bug tracker / report for that issue(s)?
