    Wait. Coreboot primarily 32-bit?!
    I may understand compatibility, since Intel processors boot in real mode but...
    Don't modern UEFI implementations boot in 64-bit mode anyway?

      UEFI anymore is all 64-bit, but since coreboot itself doesn't provide any runtime services, it doesn't really matter too much to the OS or user.
