  • RX580 on Debian - Installing

    Hello all.

    Have got a Sapphire RX580 8GB in to replace my Nvidia 960.
    Having trouble getting RX580 going with amdgpu driver in X... seems to be running on fbdev?

    Running Debian sid.

    What I've done.
    Backed up xorg.conf to xorg.conf.backup.
    mesa via Padoka, except for xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu due to:
    " xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu : Depends: xserver-xorg-core-hwe-16.04 (>= 2:1.18.99.901) but it is not installable"

    $ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-core
    xserver-xorg-core:
    Installed: 2:1.19.5-1
    Candidate: 2:1.19.5-1
    Version table:
    *** 2:1.19.5-1 500
    500 http://ftp.au.debian.org/debian sid/main amd64 Packages
    100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

    What should I do...?
    $ uname -r
    4.14.0-2.3-liquorix-amd64

    Need to have HDMI audio as this computer runs in a cupboard. No easy way to run audio to tv.
    Not sure on enabling the Ubuntu mainline kernel to get 4.15 RC1... guess that's the go right?
    Any advice appreciated.

    Fresh Windows 10 getting green screen on boot now.
    Linux openbox seems fine (apart from fbdev) and will sleep display then resume ok...

      Use Amds drm-fix 4.15 kernel, see the second message how to clone and configure it and use Oibaf ppa latest ubuntu version.
