    Those NVIDIA peaks are nasty.

Yeah, that kinda are. Hmm, you know though I bet if they shared the source code someone would be willing to look into it for them.

Lower CPU utilization and better performance in both non-free e free drivers with the free ones doing better than non-free?

What a great time to be alive

Great article Michael. Nice to see from time to time an in depth analysis.

580 with amd blob is 20% faster than 1060 with nvidia blob, but nvidiots will still believe nvidia has faster hardware

there is no data about amd blob, but radv is more cpu-bound than nvidia blob, that is why nvidia is faster in easy modes

Very nice results with rx580 for this particular game, hopefully others will receive some treatment also. And maybe Rx Vega performance will come along also in time because I'm pretty sure it wasn't that long ago that the 1060 was flogging the rx580, perhaps it still does in other games. Good none the less.

It's unfortunately a very timely comparison running the game with 50 different settings, each time running the game a minimum of 3 times for statistical accuracy, etc. But in this case the performance was proven to be interesting enough to do it.

The performance RX 580 reminds me of the good old HD 6870. It have a performance very close of the top of the line AMD cards but is a middle class one, on the majority of the benchmarks you see here.

Is the sweet spot right now on the opensource drivers, unless you are gaming in 4k.

Vega isn't really that great for 4k gaming either IMO. Lets hope Navi opens up 4k@60+ gaming for Linux!
