Phoronix: NVIDIA 381 Linux Beta vs. Linux 4.11 / Mesa 17.1 Radeon Comparison

For those wondering how the bleeding-edge open-source Radeon driver stack is comparing to the latest NVIDIA closed-source binary blob, here are some fresh benchmarks on many different cards. Tested is the new NVIDIA 381.09 binary driver with different Maxwell/Pascal GPUs alongside various AMD GCN card tests using the Linux 4.11 Git kernel and Mesa 17.1-dev Git.

That R9 290 still misperform here and there... quite sudden like how RX 460 misperform here and there

        Good drivers makes miracles

Market also speak on behalf of that - 61.21%(~61) as per steam survey use nVidia hardware:

and as per GoL survey 72.32%(~72) of their gamers uses nVidia hardware and blob driver of course...

Summa summarum calculating can't be wrong as averaging real/equal numbers we got 66,6% which is exact number of a devil as devil is always in the numbers

So come on and help (if you can) on making Good drivers even better...

Who cares about drivers - that is 99.9% developers job let say, others just suddenly appear if and when they have too much time

And if we do upside down of 99.9 we again get 66.6

Well, what's not in the numbers is how frametimes are. Source Engine games stutter like garbage on Nvidia, despite of the high fps.

It stutters less with Nouveau than with nvidia on Kepler.
