article on r9 290: poor performance

I have r9 290x GPU and want to increase FPS in hitman. Additionally, with Radeon driver, it gives me ghost images on desktop of Ubuntu 17.04, when playing steam games.
The only way i see is downgrading to Ubuntu 16.04.3 in august in order to install amdgpu pro w/ GCN1.1 Support.

Any better ideas?
