The most is not really an argument, as i can say that most gamers use 1920x1080 resolution, but most test here were not done on that resolution

That way i can make it up and legally say how 4K and 2560x1600 are less used than 1920x1080 even combined, then difference is on usage of closed AMD stack vs open

But yeah i can only agree that there is no driver for Ubuntu 16.10, that is a valid reason

I don't know, i thought those were actually some pretty good results for AMD.

I don't think having the Pro driver would have changed anything - in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it would have gone worse.

What's really "unfair" about these benchmarks is that Michael has a bunch of high-end expensive NVidia cards and lots of cheap low-end AMD cards, so it naturally ends up with lots of green at the bottom, but if you look at where these cards should be performing relative to one another it's not bad.

There are definitely cases where you can see Mesa (and fglrx had the same issue) have high CPU use and causing the results to flatten out while NVidia is still pushing the GPU, but it's getting better than it used to be. I think part of that is simply the way the hardware is designed. NVidia hardware is more designed around OpenGL. AMD hardware is more DX11-specific and has to have the driver do more work.

I noticed that a few of the more interesting games (Bioshock Infinite, Metro LL Redux) were tested at 1080p only; at first glance it seems that results for Bioshock at least would have been more balanced at higher resolutions, and most of the cards ran >>60 Hz at 1080p...

Can't blame Michael for that one. Cheap, low-end is all AMD makes nowadays.

            Maybe 2017 will be different.

That is interesting to mention, so i take a bit of time to look and count on release recommended prices (or whatever ) for all those cards... and got that those 8 nVidia cards costs $2612 while 6 AMD's cards costs $1474, so even on average money results looks halfed

So on in mass-average fps per dollar opensource driver would probably even beat nVidia... but on average bugzilla time needed i don't think so

I don't blame Michael at all. He's getting the NVidia cards for free and paying for the AMD ones.

                  That's smart marketing by NVidia.

Take a look at AMD's mass products there... Vulkan conformance for all GCN 1.1 APUs, that radv developers does not have even

Now imagine that AMD had send all of that to Michael over time, he would need to buy another house for all that
