If you are so emotionally bent out of shape over this stuff, buy the GTX-970 and send the $300 that you saved to the open-source radeon developers. I mean the unpaid volunteers, not the AMD employees who should be doing their damn jobs without needing extra money.

Given how poorly the full-bore version of the Furry X performs in Linux, and that this part is guaranteed to not be faster, I don't see any way to recommend this part for a Linux based system.
You want a small form factor GPU? Guess what, there are SFF GTX-970s at half the price of this monster that we all know will destroy it in performance simply because of AMD's drivers.
