When it comes to the new ION platform however, there is one test
I would like to see added to the reviews:

    Flash Playback in full screen:
    - HD flash: http://www.adobe.com/products/hdvideo/hdgallery/
    - Hulu samples
    - Youtube samples.

All the number crunching with the various games is all fine in most
cases but it still fails to let us know how the thing will behave
if we try to put it in the living room running boxee!

I don't expect a quantitative review, just a subjective: works well or
    a little jerky etc....
Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!

Just built an Ion nettop a little while ago. Most flash is laughably bad, the Atom can barely scale regular flash to 1280x720, forget about HD flash. When there's adequate GPU accelerated Flash for Linux, this'll be better, but not now. Fullscreen Hulu is out too.

As for power consumption, I'm receiving 17 watts idle, 21-22 watts under full CPU and GPU load.

A very desirable add-on to the test suite

Earlier this year NVIDIA introduced the ION, which is their new system platform that pairs a GeForce 9400M GPU with an Intel Atom processor to make it an appealing platform for those desiring a netbook or nettop computer but are interested in a higher level of graphics performance than what is currently possible with Intel's integrated graphics. Products using the NVIDIA ION have been slow to emerge, but in recent weeks, we have begun seeing more devices around, including those from smaller manufacturers. One company that is now selling an ION-powered nettop is ZaReason, which is a Linux-focused hardware company. In this article we have a whole arsenal of Linux-based tests showing off the NVIDIA graphics performance with the Intel Atom processor under Linux.

And what about sound or silent ...

..and add a test about power consumption, as there I see a chance for the nvidia-driver to destroy this great result..

With that and the latest kernel/intel combination where the worst regressions from intel are fixed, could be interesting.

not bad. It would certainly be something I would look at. Although I would need at least 12 inches of screen so netbook is out of the question...

Ah, thanks, Michael. And yes, I got confused, because I read somewhere else that they were considering an ION netbook. Thanks for clarifying that!

It's a nettop, but if it's not up on ZaReason.com, I guess it didn't launch quite yet. I was told it was supposed to launch last week.
