Despite having firmware update support now, do many input device vendors provide firmware for Linux? It seems like the developers have created the infrastructure, but corporations creating devices outside of the server and embedded markets are hesitant to get involved with Linux when it comes to device firmware. Just look at the Dell XPS 13 Sputnik edition, despite being "made for Ubuntu" you still need to have a Windows installation or a Windows PE stick to update the thunderbolt firmware.
