yeah, I didn't think about that aspect of it. I didn't realise that OpenWRT lacked blobs?? Good to know. I've used pfsense on a custom PC in the past, but it underperformed, so I took easy route and just got a decent consumer wireless router.
As I understand there is two kinds of Broadcom proprietary driver: one published for everyone use, and you can easily install such driver on OpenWRT from repository, and other driver that support more hardware but for some reason available only for vendors and DD-WRT developers.
