Phoronix: Intel's RealSense Camera Doesn't Yet Have Proper Linux Support

Intel RealSense is a Kinect-like 3D camera. The Intel RealSense 3D camera is intended to have a variety of applications from 3D scanning to "immersive collaboration" to gaming, but sadly its Linux support isn't yet up to scratch...

Is it my imagination or are intel collaborating with creative on this? Because if that's so this makes perfect sense. Soundblaster drivers on Linux are still pathetic, and it took them long enough just to make it possible at all to run soundblaster cards on linux to begin with. They at creative obviously dislike us.

But since team blue are the main guys behind it, we will get Linux support, we just don't have it yet, and for tech like this I don't think there's any rush, it takes time for media to adapt to innovations like that anyways.

Intel's a big company. Not all departments have an equal interest in Linux.

Why not there be a skunkworks project within Intel to build the Linux support infrastructure for this device?
