I tried searching but can't find any information on this "Google GID8 Headset". Does anybody have any information on what this is?

Raspberry Pi Pico? ...is the bootloader updatable? Do they intend fwupd to somehow become an alternative to holding BOOT and dragging and dropping a new firmware file onto the emulated USB mass storage device that appears?

Now if only some motherboard manufacturer like Asus, Asrock, Gigabyte, or MSI could start to support fwupd that would be amazing.

          > firmware updates on the ASUS ROG Ally (X) handheld

This is not correct. fwupd supports fetching the MCU version only. Support for updating the MCU of the Ally X will come next year.

That's exactly what it does now. That's how the various components on the MNT Pocket Reform are going to be updated, e.g. https://mastodon.social/@mntmn/113476289677361916

It might be a future product.

Ahh, so it's a generic backend for specific devices to be defined against, akin to dfu-tool.

How about using an Alley X as an protable computer with docking capability? Is it worth?
More power than an Rasperry, more functions, more usabilly.

It is an exclusively internal product that's not sold anywhere, just like previous generations GID6B and GID7.
